Overall Cincinnati out-hit Washington 16 to 12. Bronson Arroyo(5-13) allowed 4 runs in 8 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory. Roy Halladay(12-6) was hit with the loss. Bruce was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided much of the offense for the visitors. He delivered a single bringing in two baserunners in the 5th inning, singled in the 7th inning and blasted a two-run home run (his 9th of the season) in the 9th inning. Los Angeles totaled 14 hits on the night. Lincecum(11-9) was the winner allowing 2 runs for the game. Jake Peavy(17-5) absorbed the loss. He allowed Los Angeles 5 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings of work. Lincecum was asked about his big strikeout performance, 'Well, it's a little odd when you rack up these numbers on the road - instead of cheers and a running tally in the stands, everything gets real still and quiet. Just strange - but it's nice to be able to take the crowd out of the game.'

Davis(3-2) put on a good performance. He surrendered only 4 hits and 4 walks in 9 innings reducing his ERA from 4.74 to 3.83. The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team was able to score again. Mike Pelfrey(11-8) was tagged with the loss. He pitched 8 and 2/3 innings giving up 10 hits and 2 walks.
