Marlon Byrd got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes. One out later, Ryan Doumit came up and he was walked intentionally. Howie Kendrick followed and he doubled giving Washington the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. Both teams ended up with 6 hits on the afternoon. The key offensive moment was provided by Jermaine Dye who deflated the crowd as he doubled with all three runners coming home. Cleveland was out-hit by Los Angeles, 11 hits to 8. The victory went to Tim Lincecum(13-10) who went 6 innings, allowing 6 runs. Daisuke Matsuzaka(4-10) ended up with the loss. He struggled with his control issuing 5 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings. ST. The score was tied at 6 after nine. Finally, Boston pulled the game out in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Franklin Gutierrez doubled. Jhonny Peralta stepped up next and he drew a walk. Dioner Navarro then singled to load the bases. One out later, Jared Burton came to the plate and let loose a wild pitch making Boston the winners and sending the 35,897 fans home happy. This was a game of many highs and lows for the home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 5 times in all.
