Ethier had a big evening at the plate. He delivered a solo blast in the 3rd inning, lined a single scoring two baserunners in the 4th inning and quieted the crowd by clouting a Grand Slam (his 22nd of the season) in the 7th inning. St. Louis banged out 8 hits on the night. James Shields(21-4) went 7 innings allowing 5 runs for the victory. Shields was helped out by Brian Bruney who recorded his 3rd save. Los Angeles had 12 hits in the game while Texas had 8, but Texas had the more timely hits. Kyle McClellan(1-2) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2 innings. Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. Cleveland won the game in the 13th inning. Chris Davis stroked a single. Shoppach came to the plate and slapped a one-base hit. David Dejesus then singled making Cleveland the winners and sending the 41,325 fans home happy. Cleveland had 15 hits overall, while New York had 8.
