Marlon Byrd provided the offensive punch. He laced a base-hit plating a run in the 1st inning, tripled which scored a run in the 3rd inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run (his 9th of the season) in the 9th inning. Washington finished with 13 hits in the victory. Halladay(15-7) lasted until the end allowing 3 runs for the win. The losing pitcher was Jair Jurrjens(8-11). He got hit pretty hard, allowing 10 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings. 'It felt really nice to get this win,' Halladay said. 'I kind of dictated the game. It's what I get paid to do. It worked out this time.' Oakland came up with 2 runs in the 5th inning when they had 3 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Saltalamacchia who disappointed the partisan crowd when he doubled bringing in two baserunners. Los Angeles proved to be no trouble in the bottom of the 9th. Guthrie(13-12) allowed 4 runs on the game. Tim Lincecum(14-11) was the loser. He was touched for 14 hits and 4 walks in 8 innings.

Slowey(10-13) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the New York offense. He surrendered only 4 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings. Slowey whiffed an impressive total of 11 New York batters. The right-handed Slowey had his no-hit bid broken up by Chris Coste who singled with two outs in the 6th inning. Tampa Bay had 9 hits for the night. Doug Davis(5-5) took the loss.
