The seemingly unstoppable Atlanta Braves won by the slimmest of margins, 3 to 2. Atlanta won the game with a run in the 9th inning. Alex Rodriguez banged out a single. Rodriguez was safe at second on a stolen base. Luis Castillo then laid down a sacrifice bunt. Ian Kinsler followed and he smacked a single. Atlanta continued their aggressive style with another stolen base. Mariano Rivera was great in relief and recorded his 47th save. Grant Balfour(11-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 2/3 innings and allowing no runs. Craig Breslow(6-3) was hit with the loss in relief. ST. Jhonny Peralta then was walked intentionally. Hank Blalock followed, but he was set down on strikes. St. Louis had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. The game was decided in the bottom of the 9th inning. After an out was recorded, Sizemore ripped a solo home run (his 33rd of the season) giving San Francisco the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. San Francisco rapped out 9 hits for the afternoon. The win was credited to Lee(13-11) who went the whole way allowing 3 runs. John Lackey(9-16) ended up with the loss. Brad Penny(2-10) took the loss. He gave up 7 runs and 4 hits in 1 inning. 'Webb gave us exactly what we needed tonight,' Doug Auman said. 'When he threw the fastball he threw it for strikes. They were really fooled by his change. Most of the time he had them chasing it.'
