T.J. Friedl hit one over the fence at Busch Stadium where the Atlanta Braves
beat the St. Louis Cardinals by the score of 7 to 3.
 
Atlanta took the lead for good in the top of the 6th inning when they came up
with 2 runs on 2 hits.  The highlight belonged to Vinnie Pasquantino who
disappointed the partisan crowd when he smashed a two-run homer.  Atlanta
banged out 10 hits on the night.  
 
Clarke Schmidt(1-0) allowed 2 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory.
Schmidt got help from Andrew Kittredge who was credited with his 1st save.
Lucas Giolito(0-1) took the loss.  He gave up 4 hits and 3 walks in 6
innings.

Perkins pitched well for Boston in their victory.  He went 6 innings allowing
4 hits and 4 walks.  Both teams' bats went to sleep after the 4th inning with
no runs scored after that point.

Gabe Speier had a strong outing and Hunter Goodman had 2 base hits at Wrigley
Field as the Cleveland Indians lost a heartbreaker to Chicago (NL) Cubs by
the score of 3 to 2.
 
The game was won by Chicago (NL) when they scored a run in the bottom of the
9th inning.  Gabriel Moreno doubled.  Goodman stepped into the batter's box
and he stroked a one-base hit resulting in a mighty exciting win for Chicago
(NL) and the 37,774 home town fans in attendance.  Chicago (NL) finished with
10 hits while Cleveland ended up with 5.  
 
Bennett Sousa(2-0) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Ronny
Henriquez(0-2) suffered the loss in relief.  He gave up 1 run and 2 hits in 2
and 1/3 innings.

Johan Oviedo retired 10 batters on strikeouts as the Kansas City Royals topped
the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 4 to 1 at Camden Yards.
 
Oviedo(1-0) had a strong outing.  He surrendered only 2 hits and no walks in 7
innings.  Baltimore was set down quietly in the bottom of the 9th.  
 
Aroldis Chapman was credited with his 3rd save.  Devin Williams(0-1) was hit
with the loss in relief.  Oviedo was asked about his big strikeout
performance, 'Well, it's a little odd when you rack up these numbers on the
road - instead of cheers and a running tally in the stands, everything gets
real still and quiet.  Just strange - but it's nice to be able to take the
crowd out of the game.'

Horton was helped out by Matt Strahm who recorded his 1st save.  Kris

Detroit fell behind quickly as the Montreal offense came through in the first inning plating 3 runs utilizing 2 base hits. Bo Bichette got things going when he drew a walk. Ian Happ followed and he drew a walk. Bryce Harper then doubled which scored a run. Aaron Judge followed next and he doubled as two more runners crossed the plate. That was all the runs Jesus Luzardo(1-0) needed. The Detroit offense proved no trouble in the bottom of the 9th. Luzardo got relief help from Dennis Santana who gained credit for his 1st save. Quinn Priester(0-1) was the losing pitcher. 'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Luzardo, 'I got burned on a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'
