The Oakland Athletics edged the Los Angeles Dodgers at McAfee Coliseum by the
score of 3 to 2.
The game was decided in the 8th inning. Ryan Braun ripped a solo home run
(his 3rd of the season). Two outs later B.J. Upton came to the plate and
banged out a single. Upton was safe on a stolen base. Los Angeles had a
chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Matt Thornton(1-0) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. Thornton got
help from Octavio Dotel who earned his 2nd save. Trevor Hoffman(0-1) was
charged with the loss in relief.
