The St. Louis Cardinals came roaring back in the top of the ninth to spoil the
anticipated celebration of the hometown fans. The final score,, was 5 to
3.
St. Louis came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 9th inning as they
scored 4 runs on 3 base hits. San Francisco went down quietly in the bottom
of the 9th.
The win was credited to Sergio Romo(1-1) who went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing
no runs. Joe Nathan earned his 2nd save. Takashi Saito(1-1) took the loss in
relief. He surrendered 2 hits and 1 walk in 2/3 of an inning.
'We just kept swinging the bats and didn't give up,' Andre Ethier said. 'If
you just keep trying good things can happen!'
