Right fielder Brian Giles had 3 base hits and 2 RBI at Busch Stadium where the
St. Louis Cardinals beat the Atlanta Braves in 11 innings by the score of 6
to 5.

Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. St. Louis won the
game in the 11th inning. Giles lined a one-base hit. Mark Derosa came next
and he drew a walk. Andre Ethier then drew a walk to load the bases. Randy
Winn stepped in and he slapped a base-hit giving St. Louis the win much to
the delight of the home town crowd. A wild and woolly affair, this game saw
the lead change 5 times.

J.C. Romero(1-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Mariano
Rivera(0-1) took the loss in relief. He allowed 2 runs and 2 hits in 2
innings.
