Third baseman Manny Machado blasted a homerun and 2 RBI as the Atlanta Braves
bested the Detroit Tigers 3 to 1 at Comerica Park.
 
Atlanta jumped out to the early lead in the first inning when they came up
with 2 runs on 2 hits.  That early run support was all that Carlos Rodon(4-2)
required.  After the 2nd inning, neither team was able to score.  
 
Rodon was helped out by Jordan Leasure who recorded his 10th save.  Nolan
McLean(3-4) suffered the loss.  'It's been a rough ride lately, but this was
a good win for us' said Erick Noland, 'Maybe this will put us back on track.'

Josh Naylor homered and had 4 RBI and Mason Miller slammed the door on Boston
as the Chicago (NL) Cubs defeated the Boston Red Sox by the score of 8 to 7
at Wrigley Field.
 
Naylor had a big evening at the plate.  He cleared the fences for a two-run
home run in the 1st inning and doubled bringing in two baserunners in the 1st
inning.  Chicago (NL) finished with 10 hits in the victory.  
 
Yoshinobu Yamamoto(5-2) went 5 innings allowing 5 runs for the victory. Miller
recorded his 8th save.  Zack Wheeler(4-5) ended up with the loss.  He was
touched for 3 homeruns and did not retire a batter.  
 
Chicago (NL) now has a record of a division leading 39-22.  With the loss,
Boston has a record of 6-4 lately, 36-25 overall.

Brown earned his pay with a solid performance for Cincinnati.  He allowed 3
hits and 4 walks in 7 innings reducing his ERA from 3.20 to 2.93.  Cincinnati
had only 1 hit for the game.  
 
Tyler Kinley was credited with his 2nd save.
