Detroit claimed the early lead in the first inning when they scored 2 runs on 2 hits. That was all Pivetta needed. Detroit finished with just 6 hits in the victory. Detroit now has a record of 33-29. Not able to get much going in recent weeks, Atlanta is 2-8 of late and now has an overall record of 25-37. Noelvi Marte was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. Bryson Stott then blasted a two-run home run. Yastrzemski struck out, unable to help the rally. Philadelphia had the winning rally in the top of the 9th inning when they tallied 5 runs on 5 hits. The key at-bat was by J.J. Bleday who deflated the mood of the partisan fans when he doubled bringing home two baserunners. Garrett Whitlock, after tossing a perfect ninth, was credited with his 2nd save. The win was credited to Tyler Rogers(2-1) who went 2 innings allowing 1 run. Jason Adam(2-1) took the loss in relief. Philadelphia scored big getting 5 runs off him in 4 innings. Adam was feeling apologetic in the locker room, 'I sure let that one get away. What a miserable feeling to let the guys down; and our fans. One minute things are looking great, then. BOOM, it's over with! I just hope I get a chance to redeem myself real soon!'

park in the 3rd inning and bombed a two-run dinger in the 4th inning.
Chicago (AL) out-hit Baltimore for the game, 12 hits to 7.  
 
Andrew Abbott(8-3) allowed 2 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory.
Logan Gilbert(5-4) suffered the loss.  He was touched for 5 homeruns in his 3

In a good matchup it was the Kansas City Royals 7, the St. Louis Cardinals 5
at Kauffman Stadium.
 
St. Louis found themselves trailing quickly as the Kansas City bats came
through in the first inning plating an isolated run.  St. Louis threatened in
the 9th but Kansas City was able to put down the rally.  
 
Drew Rasmussen(7-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 5 innings. Aroldis
Chapman recorded the save, his 14th.  Luis Morales(3-7) was given the loss.
He was knocked around, surrendering 5 runs in 4 innings.  
 
No one has been able to stop Kansas City lately as they lengthened their
winning streak to 6 games.
