Manny Ramirez
Hall of Fame · 2012There haven’t been too many more polarizing figures in the history of our great league than Ramirez. Manny started his career in 1997 with the Chicago Cubs when he hit .235 with 27 HR. How many would’ve guessed then that Manny would end up number 2 all time in HR and RBI’s, been a 5 time All Star and win 5 championships? All of that being said, there’s a reason why an amazing offensive player like Manny ended up being traded a remarkable 7 times in his career. Questions of his love for the game and accusations of laziness plagued him throughout his career. Few managers were able to get the most out of him but none did it better than FCBL managing legend Brian Goodwin. Manny hit 207 of his career HR’s with Goodwins multiple teams and also won 2 of his 5 championships with Goodwin. Manny enjoyed his best year in 2001 with the Boston Red Sox when he hit .312 with 47 HR and 133 RBIs. Overall, Manny hit .284, had 552 HR (2nd all time), 1570 RBIs (2nd all time) and a .929 OPS. Manny will enter the HOF as a Seattle Mariner. Congratulations to Manny and manager Goodwin.
